Battle of the Planets Inc. Formed

Sandy Frank Entertainment establishes a new company to promote the Battle of the Planets brand internationally.
Battle of the Planets, originally a 1970s anime series, is now serving as the foundation for a new company established by New York's Sandy Frank Entertainment.
The wholly-owned company has been formed to manage television, video game, publishing, and other merchansiding and licensing responsibiilities. Currently, the company's partnerships include Rhino Home Video--which is planning a box set release in June--as well as Top Cow Comics, Diamond Select, and book publisher Simon & Schuster.
Among the anticipated results of this announcement is the continued progress of a new animated television series. Currently in development, a 53-episode Battle of the Planets series is expected to be completed by fall 2003. The series will synthesize all-new animation with that of the original Gatchaman series.
In addition to Battle of the Planet Inc.'s newly planned products, consumers may expect a series of trading cards, lithographs, lunch boxes, and T-shirts from Dynamic Forces as part of another agreement with Sandy Frank Entertainment.
