Okko's Inn's Michiya Katō Directs Yabaton Tonkatsu Shop Anime Short

Visual effects director Michiya Katō ('Obake no Dokuro', Kizumonogatari films) helmed a new anime short for Nagoya area tonkatsu shop Yabaton. The short, 'Ōsu no Bū-chan,' will premiere on October 6 on an outdoor screen near the main Yabaton shop. Voice actor Fukushi Ochiai, who voices Bu-chan, will attend the premiere.
The short follows the shy and kind-hearted Bu-chan and his unusual family as they get into both slapstick and heartwarming situations. The anime stars:
- Bu-chan: Fukushi Ochiai
- Takurō: Haruka Tomatsu
- Dad: Takahiro Sakurai
- Mom: Mami Koyama
- Sister: Ayaka Suwa
- Grandpa: Daisuke Kishio
- Kannon-sama: Miyuki Sawashiro
- Andō-kun: Wasabi Mizuta
- Sentinel: Enako
Katō directed the short at Cyclone Graphics and screenwriter Hikaru Kurozumi (Crayon Shin-chan) provided the script. Masahiko Kubo (Okko's Inn key animation) is credited with production design and Naoyuki Asano (Mr. Osomatsu, Magical Circle Guru-Guru) designed the characters. Kazuki Higashiji (Maquia - When the Promised Flower Blooms) was in charge of the background art and Yukio Nagasaki (Love Live! Sunshine!!) was the sound director. Yoshiaki Fujisawa (Revue Starlight) composed the music.
The anime's opening song is "Kibō ni Afureta Amagumo de Ippai" by singer-songwriter Sachie Hiraga and the ending theme is "Barigachi Touchdown!!" by BOYS AND MEN Kenkyūsei.
Yabaton serves Nagoya's regionally famous street food, misokatsu, a pork cutlet in miso sauce, as well as other fried foods. The chain has many locations but its main shop is located is Yaba-cho in Nagoya City where it can be easily spotted thanks to its towering mascot.
