Goku or Frieza? Adidas Originals Sneakers Let's You Choose
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
adidas Originals unleashed the first installment of its Dragon Ball Z collaboration on Wednesday with a pair of Goku and Frieza inspired kicks. The collaboration pays homage to the 20-episode spanning showdown between the strongest Saiyan and the fan-favorite foe.
The first design remodels the adidas ZX 500 RM into a pair of shoes fit for Goku. The shoes feature an orange and blue colorway to channel Goku's iconic Ki with several purposefully distressed areas to reference the character's ripped jumpsuit. Yellow mesh hints at the hidden Saiyan power waiting to come out.
There are hidden details in the design too, like embroidery of Goku's Flying Nimbus and Japanese sound effects for the flying cloud. A Dragon Ball can be found on the tongue and Goku's name in kanji is on the heel patch.
The second shoe takes adidas' Yung 1 model to represent Frieza. Glossy TPU components harken to the villain's shoulder and head elements and a suede patch on the side references his first, brawny form. rs.
Both shoes will be released globally on September 29 in special collaborative packaging. These shoes mark only the first duo in adidas' Dragon Ball Z collaboration. The company announced a total of seven designs are in the works. adidas will debut its Son Gohan and Cell designs based on its Deerupt and Prophere silhouettes, followed by Vegeta and Majin Buu, and finally Shenron the Dragon.
