Pikachu's endless love for ketchup continues, this time with a life-size doll of the Pokémon holding his favorite condiment bottle.
Starting on July 1, Pikachu will collaborate with Japanese food company Kagome as part of promotional efforts for the upcoming movie Pocket Monster: Minna no Monogatari that opens in theaters on July 13. There are two ways to try to win one of three Pikachu toys. Fans can buy three participating Kagome products and attach the barcodes to a special postcard and mail it in for a chance to win one of 100 life-size Pikachu plush dolls. This campaign will run from July 1 to August 31.
A second chance to win favors fans with artistic ability. Fans can enter to win by drawing a picture of Pikachu with ketchup on omurice and then sharing the image on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag "ピカチュウオムライス" (Pikachu Omurice). Entries submitted from July 1 to July 31 can win a ketchup cap with a sleepy Pikachu on top holding a bottle of ketchup. Entries submitted from August 1 to August 31 can win an alternate ketchup cap featuring Pikachu holding a plate of omurice.
If you aren't naturally artistic, the campaign page has detailed instructions on how to make omurice and draw your own ketchup Pikachu for entry.
Pikachu started his campaign to spread ketchup love as far back as 2015 with yearly updates ever since. The Pokémon has sang and snuggled up with the condiment.
