Cowboy Bebop Gets 20th Anniversary Screenings With Updated Sound
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Though difficult for some fans of the classic series to believe, Cowboy Bebop is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, both the space western television series and its Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door anime film will have special screenings in Tokyo in August.
The "Cowboy Bebop 20th Anniversary Special Nights" all-night screening events will be held at the Cinema City theater in Tachikawa, Tokyo. The "best-quality sound screenings" will feature detailed sound adjustments and high volume for a new experience of the anime.
The screening events for the anime series will include a talk portion from the series' staff members. The screening of the anime's episodes 1-13 will be held on August 18 with a "sound Bebop" talk show. Director Shinichiro Watanabe, music director Shiro Sasaki (Flying Dog), and scriptwriter Dai Satō will attend. The screening for the anime's episodes 14-26 will be held on August 25 with a "picture Bebop" talk show. Producer Masahiko Minami, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, and anime critic Ryota Fujitsu will attend.
Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door will have a one-week limited screening at the theater from August 25-31.
Goodsmile Animate Café branches in Tokyo and Osaka are also offering the anime's meager meals until June 10.
