Inti Creates CEO Joins Criticism of Mighty No. 9 Trailer
posted on by Eric Stimson
A trailer for Mighty No. 9, the Mega Man-styled action-platforming video game developed by Comcept and Inti Creates, was released on May 25. It has received widespread scorn, in part because of its graphical quality and in part because of its narration, which is widely perceived as patronizing. The most derided line is "stuff... that'll make the bad guys cry like an anime fan on prom night." It has been interpreted as offending its own supporters who backed the game on Kickstarter and a second Paypal fundraising campaign. The video has received over 20,000 "thumbs down" on YouTube, compared to 2,794 thumbs up.
Takuya Aizu, the CEO of Inti Creates, joined in the criticism. His tweet most likely refers to Deep Silver, Mighty No. 9's publisher.
ひどいな。このPVは何なんだよ。 What the hell was D*** *il*** thinking making a crappy PV like this?! Unforgivable.

This is horrible. What's with this PV [promotional video]?
Sonic the Hedgehog's official Twitter account also took the opportunity to jab Mighty No. 9, mocking both its explosions and its teasing of anime fans.
Dear Anime Fans: On Prom Night, at least we'll still be there for you. pic.twitter.com/y5p6BPHHi1

Mighty No. 9 is not new to controversy; in 2014, Dina Abou Karam, the community manager of the game's official forums, attracted harsh criticism of her policies, including accusations of partiality and overly zealous policing. Its release date has also been pushed back several times.
