On the heels of the recently opened Pokémon Center in Kyoto, another Pokémon Center is set to open 2,000 feet in the sky.
Pokémon Center Skytree Town will open on July 6 in the Tokyo Soramachi shopping area inside the Tokyo Skytree. Like the Kyoto shop and other locations, the new Pokémon Center picked one representative Pokémon. Organizers picked the legendary flying-dragon type Rayquaza. Pikachu is already cosplaying as the mascot to show support. Both Pokémon will appear in the shop in a photo op area. Unique goods will go on sale, too.
Both the Tokyo Skytree and Pokémon Centers serve as popular tourist destinations. The Skytree has welcomed 140 million visitors since it opened in May 2012. It boasts a status of being the tallest tower in the world and the second tallest structure in the world.
