Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

While fans of Kuroko's Basketball may be spoiled for choice in the merchandise department, a new selection of Kuroko merchandise will appeal more towards enthusiasts of traditional Japanese handwork. The connection to basketball and the show's characters might be subtle, but the craftsmanship and beauty of these pieces should intrigue anyone with an appreciation for Japanese aesthetics.

First there are these shoulder bags made by Nishijin weaving, an intricate process developed in Kyoto in the Muromachi Era. Each one is colored to represent a different character.

They also come with little LEDs that project an image of the corresponding character. The bags can be paid for in monthly installments of 4,980 yen/US$41 (paid four times) or with a lump payment of 19,800 yen/US$163.

Next are these charms using Yosegi parquetry (patterned wood) from Hakone.

They come with scented postcards of the corresponding characters. The charms can be paid for in monthly installments of 2,490 yen/US$20.50 (paid twice) or with a lump payment of 4,980 yen (US$41).

These chopsticks are crafted with Kawatsura lacquer, a technique from Akita Prefecture dating back 800 years. They are decorated with golden designs that evoke each character.

The chopsticks come with these illustrations on washi (Japanese paper). They can be paid for in monthly installments of 3,990 yen/US$33 (paid twice) or with a lump payment of 7,980 yen/US$66.

Representing Tokyo is this glasswork (kiriko) from Kodemma Town dating to the Tokugawa Era. This time only Kuroko and Akashi are represented, but hey, at least you can say you have Kuroko kiriko.

The supplement this time are these clocks bearing pictures of the corresponding character (which can be switched out if you prefer). The glasswork can be paid for in monthly installments of 4,980 yen/US$41 (paid four times for the glass, six times for the plate) or with a lump payment of 19,800 yen/US$164 for the glass or 29,800 yen/$245 for the plate.

Orders will be taken here beginning on December 19. That is also the day of Jump Festa 2016 at Tokyo's Makuhari Messe convention center, where the items will be on sale at the Premico booth. Attendees can also get this free shopping bag and buy an exclusive smartphone case or clear file.

Basketball fans can also get Kuroko's Basketball fragrances, loungewear and plushies.
