Otaku Culture Runs Deep With Anime Tattoos
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Colorful anime images aren't just for cars anymore. Otaku tattoos are becoming more popular in Japan as of late, even prompting its own "Ota-Tattoo Night:Z" convention in Osaka for the hobby. Currently, the tattoos are most popular among young women in Japan. The tattoos are usually moe, bishojo, or bishonen characters.
Japanese tattoo artist Hori Benny said, "It takes a different kind of courage to really want to be part of it. The sort of person who isn't easily rattled by the ridicule of their personal taste." Some of Benny's designs include characters from Squid Girl, Shakugan no Shana, and Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily.
