Nintendo Reveals New Yarn Game Featuring Yoshi for Wii U

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed during the live Nintendo Direct stream on Wednesday that the team behind Kirby's Epic Yarn is developing a new game starring Yoshi for the Nintendo Wii U. Takashi Tezuka (Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story) is supervising the title's development. Iwata presented some gameplay footage during the presentation.
Iwata additionally revealed that the team behind Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario 3D Land is currently developing a new 3D Mario action game for the Wii U. Iwata also revealed that a new Mario Kart game is in development for the Wii U. Iwata noted that Nintendo plans to show playable versions of these two new titles at this year's E3 event.
Iwata also noted that the Super Smash Brothers game for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U consoles is a "huge development undertaking." Nintendo will reveal the first screenshots from the game at E3. Iwata revealed that Nintendo is also developing a party game similar to Wii Party for the Wii U.
