Hatsune Miku's 5th Birthday Marked With Concert Marathon, Art, More

Fans, niconico, Sega, Piapro, pixiv, Good Smile Company join festivities

Video streaming site niconico is streaming four of Hatsune Miku's concerts to celebrate the virtual Vocaloid idol's fifth birthday on Friday. Starting at 9:00 p.m. in Japan (8:00 a.m. EDT), niconico is streaming the 2010 "Miku no Hi Kanshasai" live concert, Anime Expo 2011's Mikunopolis concert, the 2012 "Saigo no Miku no Hi Kanshasai" concert, and this past Wednesday's "Natsu no Owari no 39 Matsuri" event for 1,500 points. The marathon's total run time is slated for almost six hours.
Sega's Team Project Diva is celebrating the birthday with the following "Summer Idol" music video:

Various projects with Vocaloid ties are offering special presents or events, such as birthday computer wallpaper from artists putidevil and chamooi.

Crypton Future Media's Piapro community site is giving away various goods in a random prize drawing to people who post celebratory photos on Twitter with the hashtag #miku5thBD by September 9.

As part of their annual tradition, the artists at the pixiv website have posted scores of congratulatory illustrations.

Figure maker Good Smile Company launched a Hatsune Miku 5th Anniversary special site and began taking orders for the Nendoroid Sakura Miku figure.

A variety of goods campaigns have also ushered in the idol's birthday, including a collaboration with FamilyMart where the grand prize winner receives a Hatsune Miku original electric scooter. Sony is also celebrating the idol's birthday with an exclusive Walkman that sold out in less than six hours.
