4°C's 4th PES Anime 'Making Of' Video Shows Digital Inking
posted on by Egan Loo
Studio 4°C and the Toyota Motor Corporation are streaming several "Making Of" videos for their promotional anime series PES: Peace Eco Smile, detailing the behind the scenes action of anime production. Their latest video highlights digital ink and paint, the steps that add color to the line drawings. Previous "Making Of" videos examined background art, key animation, and in-between animation.
The comical shorts center around PES, a traveler from space, and NaSuBi, a mysterious life-form who is enamored by the charm of Earth. They immerse themselves in the Tokyo neighborhood of Kichijōji and learn about kindness to people, the value of loving, and the importance of the little happinesses in life.
Yuichiro Hayashi (Batman: Gotham Knight) directed the project, and Akiko Yajima (Crayon Shin-chan's title character) voiced NaSuBi. The musical artists Halfby, Yuri Miyauchi, Hiroko Sebu, Seiichi Yamamoto, Yuya Matsumura (white white sisters), toe, and Spangle call Lilli line all collaboraed on the soundtrack.
Studio 4°C and Toyota posted the seventh and last episode in the series, "Drive your Smile," last week. Crunchyroll announced last month that it is also streaming the shorts.
