AKB48 Scratch-&-Sniff Photos Bundled with Shonen Sunday

Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine began bundling idol photos infused with the scents of the AKB48 idol group on Wednesday. The back of each photograph has been embedded with 3,000 microscopic flavor capsules — scratching the photograph will release scents that will allow readers to experience "the flavor of your first kiss" with an AKB48 idol.

According to Shonen Sunday, these are the first such bonus supplements in the magazine's history. The current issue (this year's combined 21st/22nd issue) has scratch-and-sniff photographs of Atsuko Maeda and Yuko Oshima. The 23rd issue will bundle photographs of Yuki Kashiwagi and Minami Minegishi on May 9. The three-part campaign ends with photographs of Mayu Watanabe and Tomomi Itano in the 24th issue on May 16.
