'Anime' Hinted, Not Announced, for Comic Artist and His Assistants Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
Manga creator Hiroyuki (Doujin Work) posted an image of the eighth volume from The Comic Artist and His Assistants (Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to) series, and noted that something is written on the volume's wraparound jacket band on Friday. On the band are the words "anime adaptation" (anime-ka), but Hiroyuki deliberately obscured the rest of text on the band. The volume will officially ship on December 24.
The words "anime adaptation" on a manga's jacket band are not necessarily from an actual anime announcement. Last year, the band on the second volume of Namori's Yuruyuri yuri manga also said "anime adaptation" — followed by these words in fine print: "would be nice if it happens." An anime based on the Yuruyuri manga was not officially announced until this year.
The story of The Comic Artist and His Assistants deals with the relationships between a professional manga creator and his female assistant. Hiroyuki launched the manga in 2008. Hiroyuki's earlier Doujin Work manga inspired a television anime series in 2007.
