Satoshi Kon Art Works Box Now Sold Out (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website of the late director Satoshi Kon reported on Sunday that only about 10 copies of the Satoshi Kon Art Works Box are still available by mail order as of 4:00 p.m. Japan Time (3:00 a.m. EDT).
Kon personally assembled and cataloged 69 pieces of illustrations for the box as late as July of last year, one month before passing. He also wrote descriptions for the illustrations in the box, which are limited to 300 sets.
100 of the sets were presold at a special "Millennium Souvenir" retrospective exhibition dedicated to Kon's works, which was held from August 12 through August 24 at the Shinjuku Ophthalmologist Gallery in Tokyo. The other 200 sets have been on sale only on Kon's official website. The box is being sold for 28,000 yen (about US$346) or 29,400 yen (US$381) with tax. It will contain 54 color illustrations and 15 black and white illustrations (5 on plates), including illustrations for his anime works and related goods, as well as private sketches. The illustrations will not be bound in a book form, but will be presented so they are available for framing.

Update 2: The box is now sold out. If there are cancelled box orders, the website will announce any more available boxes for sale on September 5 or later.
