Capcom to Launch CapBom! Magazine on September 20
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The game company CAPCOM confirmed on Tuesday that it will release the first volume in a new magazine on September 20. The magazine, titled CapBom!, will be an "all CAPCOM synthesis information magazine" with manga series and news about CAPCOM's newest game titles and acquisitions. (The Japanese pronunciation of the title, "Capu-bon," is a wordplay on the Japanese pronunciation of CAPCOM — "Capucon").
Naoki Serizawa (Saru Lock, Samurai Man) will draw a Biohazard/Resident Evil tie-in manga titled Biohazard: Marhawa Desire for the new magazine, and a special "Episode 0" prologue will run in the magazine's inaugural issue. The all-new, original story is set in Marhawa School, "Asia's largest elite school in a certain country in the Far East." Serizawa is also drawing the cover illustration (pictured at right) for the first issue.
The first 288-page issue will cost 1,200 yen (about US$15) and will bundle a special booklet featuring tribute illustrations from artists including Masahiro Anbe, Kei Ichimonji, Ryu Itou, Tsukasa Kiryū, Dai Suzuki, Sumeragi, Kenji Hamaoka, Daisuke Higuchi, Tetsuhiro Hirakawa, Ryūta Fuse, and Serizawa.
CAPCOM will announce more manga titles that CapBom! will publish at a later date. CAPCOM is taking suggestions for the name of the magazine's mascot in the first volume. Book retailers, including CAPCOM's own online shop, had revealed CapBom!'s existence earlier this summer in listings.
