Tamayura Anime Dishes to Be Served by Yokosuka Shops
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The city of Yokosuka in Kanagawa Prefecture will hold a "Tamayura Festival 2011" event starting on August 14 to promote the upcoming Tamayura television anime series, which will begin airing in October.
The event will include a poster campaign throughout the city, as well as a special menu in seven of the city's restaurants. These restaurants will include a menu of Tamayura-themed curry, hamburgers and cherry cheesecake, with names such as "Norie-tan's Extremely Spicy Tension MAX Curry," or "Kao-tan's Success Burger."
Fans who eat the special menu items will receive a stamp, and those who collect all seven stamps will receive a premium coaster and will be entered in a lottery for another gift.
In addition, a special ready-made "Tamayura Curry" box will be sold during the festival.
The story of Tamayura follows Fū Sawatari (Taketatsu), a girl who lives in a waterside town near the Seto Inland Sea and takes photographs with her late father's film camera. Incidentally, the city of Yokosuka is not the town where the anime takes place, nor is it close in location to the Seto Inland Sea.
Junichi Satō (Aria, Kaleido Star, Princess Tutu) created the story of the 2010 original video anime version of the show, and directed its two volumes. It was Sato's third "healing anime" after Aria and Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~, and Hal Film Maker produced the animation. Sato will once again direct the new series.
