Hatsune Miku Figma Figure for Quake Charity Offered
posted on by Egan Loo
The figure manufacturer Good Smile Company (GSC) confirmed on Friday that it will release a "figma Hatsune Miku Support ver." as the third Cheerful Japan! figure to raise money for victims of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake disaster (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai). The Cheerful Japan! project follows in the footsteps of the "Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Support ver."; GSC sold over 74,000 of this earlier set and donated 1,000 yen (about US$12) from each sale — a total of 74,465,000 yen (US$925,500) — to the Japanese Red Cross.
The "figma Hatsune Miku Support ver." is a reissue of the first figma Hatsune Miku figure from 2008. However, the silver paint job is brighter on the "Support ver." and the new set adds "a smiling support face," an orange support flag, and pompoms.
Japanese pre-orders will run on GSC's own website from July 11 to July 27, while overseas pre-orders will run on a related site from July 28 to August 8. 1,000 yen (US$12) out of the 3,000-yen (US$36) cost will be donated, although there is also a 2,000-yen (US$24) fee for overseas shipping. GSC will ship the figures in November.
