Nintendo to Release Free Pokémon PokéDex App on 3DS
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The official Pokémon website announced on Thursday that it will release a free Pokémon Rittai Zukan BW (PokéDex 3D) application on the eShop for the Nintendo 3DS game console. The app will be available for free in North America on June 6 (when the official e-Shop opens), and it will be available in Japan on June 17.
The app will allow users to view information on Pokémon from the recently released Pokémon: Black & White videogames. Users will also be able to view a 3D image of the Pokémon from any angle. Data on 16 Pokémon will be included with the app, and users can get data on other Pokémon through StreetPass downloads, from friends or through the system's augmented reality function.
The Pokémon: Black & White games shipped in Japan in September, and in North America in March.
In the Pokémon games and anime adaptations, the Pokémon trainers use a "PokéDex" to view information on various Pokémon. Pocket Monsters: Best Wishes!, the anime based on this latest generation of Pokémon games, has been airing in Japan since September.
