Hanasaku Iroha's Working Phone Now Takes 'Reservations'
posted on by Egan Loo
The working real-life phone number for the hot spring inn in the Hana-Saku Iroha anime now takes "reservations" — via the part-time worker Nako Oshimizu, as voiced by Aki Toyosaki.
In the first six minutes of the anime earlier this month, the mother of the high school protagonist Ohana showed the name and phone number of Ohana's new home, the Kissuisō inn. When fans called the inn's number 076-235-1168, they heard an answering machine message from Ohana (Kanae Itō).
However, when fans call the number now, they connect to a fictional reservation line instead of an answering machine message. Nako has a one-sided "conversation" with the caller to take down the caller's name, address, and contact information for a room. After encouraging herself for successfully making a reservation, Nako then hums the ending theme song "Hazy" before disconnecting.
The story centers around Ohana Matsumae, a 16-year-old Tokyo native who suddenly ends up at Kissuisō after her mother flees town to avoid debts. The website Crunchyroll is streaming the anime outside Japan within 90 minutes of its original broadcast for premium members (and one week later for everyone else).
