posted on by Gia Manry
The Korea Herald newspaper reports that Koreans have been expressing anger online about a manga that depicts former Korean pop singers, now hostesses, revealing "dirty" secrets about Korea's entertainment industry. The story features lewd scenes and terms such as "corruption" and "sex-for-favors." The comic also specifically depicts the K-pop girl groups KARA and Girls' Generation by their names and their trademark outfits. According to the newspaper, the agency of Girls' Generation is in talks with lawyers in Japan on "strong countermeasures."
Writer "Hanayama" and artist "Shamoji" created the comic, titled K-POP Boom Netsuzō Setsu o Oe! (Analyzing the K-Pop Boom Lies). According to The Korea Herald's report, Hanayama reportedly "insists that the story is based on information he acquired."
