Kaguya-sama: Love is War Manga Gets Live-Action Film in September

Shueisha announced on Thursday that Aka Akasaka's Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai - Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunōsen) manga is inspiring a live-action film that will open on September 6. King & Prince idol group member Shō Hirano (seen left in image below) will play Miyuki Shirogane, and Kanna Hashimoto (right) will play Kaguya Shinomiya.
Hayato Kawai (live-action My Love Story!!, Nisekoi) is directing the film. Yūichi Tokunaga (live-action Tonde Saitama, Princess Jellyfish series) is penning the script. Principal photography for the film is scheduled to run from March to April.
Viz Media is publishing the manga in English, and it describes the story:
All's fair when love is war!Two geniuses. Two brains. Two hearts. One battle. Who will confess their love first…?!
Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane are two geniuses who stand atop their prestigious academy's student council, making them the elite among elite. But it's lonely at the top and each has fallen for the other. There's just one huge problem standing in the way of lovey-dovey bliss—they're both too prideful to be the first to confess their romantic feelings and thus become the “loser” in the competition of love! And so begins their daily schemes to force the other to confess first!
Akasaka began the series in Shueisha's Miracle Jump magazine in May 2015 but moved it to Young Jump in March 2016. The 13th volume shipped on January 18. Viz Media released the sixth volume on January 1.
The manga is inspiring a currently-airing television anime adaptation that premiered on January 12. Aniplex of America is streaming the series on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow
The manga is inspiring two spinoff manga. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Dōjin-ban (Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Dōjin Edition) by Shinta Sakayama launched on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website last June. Kaguya-sama o Kataritai (I Want to Talk With Kaguya) by G3 Ida launched in Young Jump last July.
