Description:
MEGATOKYO 2032 AD • THE STORY OF THE KNIGHT SABERS • VOLUME 3
It is the year 2032 A.D. The city of MegaTokyo is busy rebuilding itself in the aftermath of the Second Great Kanto Earthquake. Looming over a city still half in ruins is a huge conical tower: the headquarters of Genom, an international corporation that has grown rich from its control of "Boomer" technology.
Boomers: a combination of biotechnology, mechatronics, and artificial intelligence. First designed for hazardous duty in space, it was soon discovered that these artificial life-forms have any earthly uses -- not all of them benign. Although they promise to free mankind from all types of menial labor, in the wrong hands, they can be perverted into soul-less highly intelligent engines of destruction.
And they ARE in the wrong hands . . .
One group, however, not only knows the truth, but has the power to do something about it -- The Knight Sabers. A group of 4 female mercenaries equipped with advanced "Hard Suits," they have the ability to take on the Boomers 1 on 1 -- and win.
So far, the Knight Sabers have managed, if not to defeat Genom, at least to thwart some of it's plans. The evil Mason is dead, killed by Sylia atop Genom Tower, and his Boomer reincarnation, Largo, was last seen falling from a tall building after being hit by his own satellite particle-beam weapon.
In Episode 7, "Double Vision," a GENOM executive inks a pact with the Gulf & Bradley Corporation to produce a sophisticated new Combat Boomer. McLaren, G&B's Boomer expert, is tapped to direct the development effort in MegaTokyo. He looks forward to sampling the pleasures the city has to offer.
The festivities are rudley interrupted by a powerful crab-like Mecha. McLaren is the only survivor of the attack.
Meanwhile, in MegaTokyo, the big news is the upcoming convert by Vision, a very famous and very mysterious Rock Star. Vision's concert is just a cover. Her real agenda is to avenge the murder of her little sister, Irene, whom we met in "Born to Kill."
Assisted by the faithful Kou, she attacks the research center in her Mecha, but her reluctance to kill innocent bystanders dooms the attempt to failure. McLaren, more than a little unnerved by the attack, arranges for some protection - The Knight Sabers!
In the final episode, "Scoop Chase," would-be VidReporter Lisa Vanette films the Knight Sabers in action, forcing Priss to destroy her favorite camera. Lisa vows to get even by exposing their true identities.
Fortunately for her, she's the Chief of A.D. Police's favorite niece! Nene finds herself saddled with the job of escorting Lisa around town - and she proves to be more difficult to mislead than Nene anticipates.
Persistence pays off. Lisa obtains a photograph that proves Nene is a Knight Saber. Meanwhile, a crazed GENOM scientist decides to test out his new Boomers by having them destroy A.D. Police H.Q. By hacking the building's computer, one of the Boomers creates an automated death-trap. Now Lisa's scoop may become an obituary -- her own!
