A retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the series' original character designer.
While the Japanese volumes contain four to five chapters each, the English volumes only contain two apiece, hence the confusing juxtaposition in volume numbers and release dates.
