The chant Mizuki uses for good luck is a quotation of Psalm 1 verse 3.

In episode 3 near the end, when Shizuka is checking the engine of Mr. Martin's car, . There is a small sign that reads "PICARD M. CO DS-9 No. NC1701D". A small Star Trek reference seeing how Picard is a character in "Star Trek: The Next Generation", DS-9 refers to "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", and "NC1701D" refers to the serial number of the USS Enterprise-D (note the extra "C" is missing).
