Monkey Punch originally wanted to direct a Seven Samurai remake.
There's a stage play adaption for this anime on November 22, 2008. The DVD came out on February 27, 2008.
It is rumored that the Seven Samurai movie this is adapted from was based off of Aeschylus' Seven Against Thebes poem. This poem was one of the major events in Greek mythology before the Trojan War.
This TV series was released the same year the original Seven Samurai movie turn 50 years old.
