In the opening of the OVA, Yuta was caught up in the early stages of a coup, known today as the February 26th Incident. On February 26, 1936, a faction of the Imperial Japanese Army known as the "Kodoha" attempted a coup by storming the Japanese Diet building, the Army Ministry headquarters and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police headquarter. During the seize many politicians were attacked and killed, and Japan's Prime Minister, Okada Keisuke, narrowly escaped death as well. The coup lasted for three days and were opposed by the Toseiha army faction, as well as Emperor Hirohito and Hideki Tojo. The coup ended on February 29th, with the remaining holdouts surrendering, while two committed suicide.
This OAV is adaption of chapters 5 & 6 of Takahashi’s “Mermaid Forest” manga.
