Fatal Frame Series Creator: Film Project Still in the Works Overseas

In an interview with game news website 4Gamer published on Saturday, Fatal Frame series creator Keisuke Kikuchi confirmed that a Fatal Frame film project is still in development overseas.
Tecmo's (later Koei Tecmo) horror game franchise Fatal Frame (known as Zero in Japan and Project Zero in Europe) previously inspired a live-action film that opened in Japan in September 2014. The franchise's staff had originally announced a Hollywood film adaptation in 2003, and later confirmed in 2014 that the film was still planned. The game franchise debuted in 2001.
Film director Christophe Gans said in February 2020 that he is working on a Fatal Frame film, in addition to a Silent Hill film. In that interview, Gans said that the Fatal Frame film will be set in Japan.
The Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will launch on October 28. The game will be an enhanced version of the 2014 Wii U release.
