The official website for the anime of Mikage Kasuga's Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc to Renkin no Kishi (Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc and the Alchemist Knight) novel series announced on Monday that the ninth episode has been delayed by one week from December 2 to December 9 on Tokyo MX. The scheduled December 2 showing on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, BS Fuji, and AT-X has been replaced with the Blu-ray Disc version of the anime's first episode, with audio commentary. Ryota Ohsaka (Montmorency), Hisako Tōjō (Astaroth), and sound director Ryousuke Naya provide the commentary for the episode.
The first Blu-ray Disc volume containing the first episode with audio commentary is slated for December 21 in Japan.
The anime premiered on October 7, and it is slated for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll is streaming the series. Funimation is also streaming an English dub for the anime.
The novel series' story takes place in 15th-century France, during the Hundred Years' War with England. Montmorency, the son of a noble, immerses himself in the study of magic and alchemy at a school for knights. However, after France's defeat at Agincourt, the school is disbanded and Montmorency is forced to flee. While on the run he meets a miraculous village girl named Jeanne.
Shin Itagaki (Teekyū all nine seasons, Basquash!, Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter) is directing the anime at AXsiZ (Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn, Ms. Koizumi loves ramen noodles). Ryunosuke Kingetsu (Märchen Mädchen, Ninja Nonsense, Tales of Symphonia the Animation: Tethe'alla Episode) is handling the series composition. Jouji Sawada (Golden Kids) is handling the animation character designs, Ryousuke Naya (Magical Girl Site, Haitai Nanafa) is the sound director, and Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann, Bungo Stray Dogs, Black Butler) is composing the music.
