The December issue of Tokuma Shoten's Comic Zenon magazine revealed on Thursday that Fumiyo Kouno will draw a sequel to her "Hijiyama-san" one-shot manga in the magazine's next issue on November 24.
Kouno published the previous one-shot, "Hijiyama-san no Mimi" (Hijiyama-san's Ear), in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2014. The story follows a protagonist in the newspaper club and the titular character in the art department. Hijiyama-san is a fan of Van Gogh who, for some reason, injured an ear.
Kouno published a one-shot manga titled "Lise to Genshi no Mori" (Lise and the Forest of Atoms) about physicist Lise Meitner in the December issue of Comic Zenon.
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed Kouno's In This Corner of the World manga (pictured right) in North America. The manga inspired an award-winning anime film directed by Sunao Katabuchi in 2016, and the film will get an updated version that will open in Japan next year. The manga also inspired a live-action television special in 2011 and a live-action series this year.
Last Gasp Publishing and jaPRESS released Kouno's manga Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms in North America. This manga inspired a live-action film.
