'Pokémon Moon,' 'Pokémon Sun' Trademark Applications Filed in Europe (Updated)
posted on by Karen Ressler
Trademarks were filed for "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" at the European Union's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) on Thursday.
Nintendo Co., Ltd. is listed as the owner, however anyone can apply for a trademark at the OHIM before they are examined to see if they are authentic or fake. A parody Twitter account "@NinlendoAmerica" pretended to confirm the news.
Nintendo will host a Pokémon Direct livestream on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. EST to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary.
Update: The 'pokemon-sun.com' and 'pokemon-moon.com' websites currently redirect to the official Pokémon website. CSC Corporate Domains, Inc. registered both websites on Thursday. Thanks, Lostlorn Forest.
