Dragon Quest Monster Battle Scanner Hosts Location Tests in Tokyo This Month
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The first 2016 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine (cover pictured at right) announced on Monday that Square-Enix will host location tests for its Dragon Quest Monster Battle Scanner arcade card game on December 12-13 in Tokyo at the Sega World chain's Kasai arcade.
Square-Enix announced the game in July after the official website had hosted an unlinked thumbnail image for the game. The company plans to release the card game in 2016. Players will scan a QR code on their monster tickets using the arcade machine's dragon scanner and battle with their monsters in the game.
Small, medium, and large monster tickets will be available. Players can create unique monster tickets by capturing images of monsters in the game. People without monster tickets can also play by borrowing monsters. Players can utilize monsters' special skills and spells to battle in the "scan battle role-playing game."
