Funimation convention manager Sarah "Sully" Sullivan hosted the Funimation industry panel at Japan Expo USA on Saturday. The panel didn't have any new announcements but reintroduced some of the company's current series and upcoming releases.
The panel opened with an introduction of The Funimation Show on YouTube and its exclusive content. The Funimation website is also getting an overhaul soon for a better streaming experience. It's expected to launch in a matter of weeks.
Fans can also connect with the company through its YouTube channel, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook. Funimation has a lot of its content on Netflix too, but Sully reiterated that they do not control what is on Netflix. Fans can also watch anime on Google Play services. For those with a Funimation Elite subscription, Samsung Smart TVs will have a Funimation button. The company also has Android, iOS, and Roku apps.
Funimation currently has three shows on Adult Swim's Toonami block, including One Piece, Soul Eater and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
The panel then moved to introductions of its simulcast shows with a trailer for Attack on Titan. Funimation has the full home video rights for the series and it will be getting a dub for home video release. Funimation is also streaming A Certain Scientific Railgun S, High School DxD New, Brothers Conflict, Toriko, Danganropa the Animation, Hyperdimension Neptunia, and One Piece.
Funimation has a number of new releases upcoming. Sully let fans know that Part 7 of Fairy Tail and the Fairy Tail: Hōō no Miko film will be available before the end of the year while Part 5 and Part 6 are currently available. Other series currently available include One Piece Season 5 Part 1, Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail, Haganai, Eureka Seven AO Part 1, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, High School DxD, Ghost in the Shell Arise, and Guilty Crown.
Another new nostalgic release is the Dragon Ball Z: Rock The Dragon edition. The Rock The Dragon version features the Dead Zone, The World's Strongest and Tree of Might films with the Ocean dub. These versions have not been released on home video before.
A series of previews for upcoming releases were shown next. Funimation will release Last Exhile - Fam, The Silver Wing, The Future Diary, and Michiko & Hatchin in the coming months. Mamoru Hosoda's Wolf Children film will be coming out in November. The company also picked up a number of Bandai titles which were previously announced at Otakon, including Escaflowne, Outlaw Star, My-Hime, My-Otome, My-Otome 0~S.ifr~, My-Otome Zwei, Witch Hunter Robin, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and Cowboy Bebop. Cowboy Bebop will be released on Blu-ray and DVD.
