Anime Expo 2003
Synch Point / Broccoli

by Christopher Macdonald,
Broccoli's major announcement at Anime Expo was the creation of Broccoli Books, a new manga label.

The first 3 titles to be distributed by Broccoli Books are Galaxy Angel, Aquarian Age: Juvenile Orion and Leave it to Piyoko!.

Galaxy Angel, by Kanan, currently has three volumes available in Japan. Broccoli hopes to cross promote the Manga with Bandai's release of the Anime and will probably release the first volume at about the same time as Bandai's release of the firts volume of the Anime. They expect to stagger the release so as to not catch up to the Japanese release too fast.

Aquarian Age: Juvenile Orion is a Bishonen spin-off of Aquarian Age by doujinshi artist Sakurako Gokurakuin. Broccoli has yet to set a release schedule for this title.

The two volume Leave it to Piyoko! is by Hina, responsible for much of the background story created for the Leave it to Piyoko! Anime as well as Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat. Broccoli is planning to release the first volume at about the same time that they release the DVD, summer 2004.

Broccoli is working on a brand new multi-platfor series in Japan. The series will be released in as an Anime TV series, a Manga and Video Game. The Anime will have two versions, the Shonen version and the Shoujo version. It is being created with a US audience in mind and more details will be announced at the Tokyo Character Show.
