Then again, it is on a show where you have cases where people are TRYING TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, and it doesn't matter if they are the "bad guys" often the perps are painted as benign until the jig is up.
It is one of those strange situations where "real life" crops up within your kids entertainment but only subject matter x and y are the things that "raise the red flags".

Shouldn't they be happy that it's censored? Seriously these parents need to get a life. How can anyone complain about something that is censored (and not taking a anti-censorship stance)?

He says stuff about that level (and gets hit for it) about every episode, though...

What are the ethical implications and potential impact on children?
I do not understand what they are complaining about.

That's rich, considering that the next arc involves people getting their heads sliced off. Detective Conan might *have* kids in it, but it's never struck me as a "kid's show", whatever its time slot.

Shin-chan anime as of late is more family friendly than it was early on.

Wait, what exactly did Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V do to cause those complaints?

Well if the scenes reached the level of Swallowtail Inn, I could see cause for complaint. Otherwise, meh.

Let me ask the same question I raised the last time one of these stories appeared: Do policy-makers in Japan take the BPO seriously? In some cases they have complained about shows airing past one in the morning when most any well-behaved child should be sleeping. Do they expect anime producers to censor their material to protect sleepwalking children without parental supervision?

America has groups like these as well. As far as I can tell, their effectiveness before bodies like the Federal Communications Commission has been pretty minimal. Rather than just parading these stories based on press releases before us, ANN, how about looking into the situation in more detail? Is the BPO a significant force for censorship in Japanese TV? What ties do they have to the Abe government if any? Has the BPO become more powerful as the apparent pressures for censorship by right-wing forces have grown over the past decade? Has the BPO affected how production committees decide what can be animated, and how it can be animated? Are producers censoring themselves rather than creating shows that might attract the BPO's ire? These are the questions worth reporting on, not whether anime X got a black mark from the BPO last week.

I wouldnt say BPO has any real power. They complain a lot, and for every complaint about sex or violence there are cases where they condemn Chi's Sweet Home for encouraging kids to keep pets in apartment complexes that do not allow pets. They've been around a long time
