Hmmm...I wonder if the Japanese are going to react to the manga-styled illustrations in Seven Seas' Pride and Prejudice edition like they did with their Alice in Wonderland one.

“Doesn’t look American. Redraw it!” and “Don’t be silly, this is definitely the Japanese edition!” get me every time.

Hmm, so is this more like a light novel? I wonder if Seven Seas is testing that market? It would definitely be nice to see more light novels getting licensed.

According to Seven Seas, similar works have been selling well like the Alice in Wonderland one, so it's not so much testing the waters as fulfilling potential demand.

Probably helps that the only difference from the original work is the (surprisingly well done) pictures.

Wouldn't fit the shoujo manga style in the slightest, but War of the Worlds would be pretty cool. Or maybe Lovecraft. I don't know public domain works that well, so someone else can probably think of a better one.

I say "testing the waters" mostly because of all the Ask.fm responses insisting that Seven Seas will not license full light novel series.

This Alice book, the illustrations are REALLY NICE!!
An apocalypse survival guide for Japanese girls?
Oh gawd, I didn't even think they knew much about this. Wait a minute what am I saying. High School of the Dead. Yeah, I guess they would know something.

I learned a new portmanteau today. Surprised
