I feel bad for those in Europe who wanted a physical copy.

Well it's a good thing the Vita is region free. It's strange to see only Virtue's Last Reward as the only Zero Escape title to have a physical release in Europe (999 was digital only over here but thankfully the DS is region free also, not the 3DS sadly).

At least with the Vita version its region free so importing is an option, I'll be doing the same for gravity rush remastered since the opposite case of digital only in NA is there.

Hopefully EU does get a physical option as they along with NA are the reason why we are getting this game.

I imagine because at least for VLR, much like ever17, a certain plot point would make it somewhat difficult to adapt into an anime.

Digital only? That sucks. Come on, see if someone like Pqube want to do a release, even an LE only one would be fine with me.

It's narrative structure would be a mess if it were animated. Would not work at all.

Virtue's last reward did actually get an OVA special in NA to promote the game here's a link to it, its really neat

WARNING!! Spoilers to the game for those who haven't played it so be warned

It's almost as if we're living in a parallel universe where North America actually gets a physical copy of a niche Japanese game, while Europe is digital only.

While I would love a anime of Zero Escape the plot of the game really only works in video game form. Turning it into an anime would mean stripping out large parts of the story and would ruin a lot of what makes the game great. This actually happened to Danganronpa when they had to remove a lot of the investigations and trials that make that game so good. Honestly I think both franchises are better off just being games.

And again, there is a huge freaking twist in Virtue's Last Reward that would make the game basically impossible to convert to animation, unless you took a "Gregory Horror Show"-style approach of doing everything from a first-person perspective.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the plot almost identical to higurashi cept instead of a spoiler[ time/thought jumping Rika]we have a spoiler[time/thought jumping Sigma and sometimes Phi]

As for the whole plot reveal that spoiler[Sigma is actually a really old dude all you have to do is keep him away from any reflective surfaces while simultaneously making sure that all the other characters BUT Sigma see and acknowledge a reflection of themselves during the story, as long as the game is told solely from his perspective then it makes sense that he'd envision himself as a youth but when confronted with his reflection the truth is revealed.]

beyond guttered that Eu/Au is getting digital only.
I really do appreciate Aksys and their titles, but I friggn f*kin hate how EU/AU ONLY gets digital release. Like im friggn super rich to buy all these memory cards for digital games!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

edit/
i had a look at aksys website and fb and it didn't say anything about EU getting digital only. Only stated what ZE3 is called.
TBQH i will find it really weird if they do jst give us a digital release (and i will resume to feel really pissed) bc Rising Star Game actually PAL-ised it for us with a physical release for VLR...

Feelings accepted. Honestly, it sucks. I'm supporting the game no matter what, but this sucks immensely for me. Although ultimately I blame Nintendo and their humongously stupid region-locking policy.
