Only design I particularly dislike is the kid in green (who I'm assuming is the protagonist). As for the rest, if the last one is any indication, I'll warm up to these designs eventually. Too bad Kaneko is still relegated to "the guy that drew a bunch of these old pictures," but if it's a direct follow-up to "SMT IV" that's not surprising.

Feels weird to say this, but I hope they change that title for the international release. "Final" implies an updated re-release, which they explicitly said it isn't.

Quote:
it will have the keyword "deity-killing."

A "MegaTen" game where you kill deities? I suppose Famitsu's next big scoop is that grass is green. Wink

(Also, to whoever wrote the news post, deicide might be a better word choice)

I am puzzled why they went for the title SMT 4: Final --- it's clearly stated that this is a new game and not a updated version of 4..so why not go with 5? Unless it's a direct sequel to SMT 4, which is weird considering the endings in that game.

Could be a prequel or a spin-off.

I don't see how it could connect with the previous game because it has 3 different paths to choose from and it would be hard to make a sequel. This has to be a spin-off or a separate entry.

I thought this was a remake too based on the title, and I was staring at the artwork thinking that I don't recognize these characters. I wonder how it's going to tie into SMT4 if it's a direct sequel or prequel.

Is there a reason why they can't assume IV's neutral route happened (or heck, pick any one of them, really)? Within this very series, there is the past example of II assuming that I's neutral route was taken.

Typically 'Neutral' routs are considered the cannon endings of SMT games

Consider me hyped about this. And also confused by the naming convention. It made me think it was an updated SMTIV, rather then the stand alone it appears to be.

It sounds like a Side Story, hopefully it's not as easy as SMT IV.

Easy is relative...I'm a more normal person and I found normal difficulty of Shin Megami Tensei IV overwhelming sometimes. I'm also the only person I know who played this game and finished it without turning it down to Easy.
