Just the fact that she could play the same roll for 46 years is noteworthy in and of itself! That is an insanely long time to do anything in life, let alone voicing a character on a TV show!

Bravo and best wishes for her future endeavors, or retirement, whichever she is choosing.

She can't be the only one coming up to their pensions on that production.

She was almost 90. Maybe the oldest active voice actress. Definitely the end of an era but the actress for sazae is still the original.

And she's almost 15 years younger than Miyoko Asou which means she might just end up voicing the character for an amazing 60 years.

And people think the Simpsons cast have been doing it forever. The only thing that comes close in American animation is Mel Blanc, who did voices for Looney Tunes for a little more than fifty years, but of course that was off-and-on for most of that time. Likewise Frank Welker's been doing Freddy on Scooby Doo since the '60s, but there've been many years without any Scooby Doo animation.

Man, I do not envy the new voice actor. I mean, I think it'll be fine, but just think of the pressure. Good luck to her.

@zensunni: There was an attempt to pull out Harry Shearer from The Simpsons voice cast this year, but that failed for sure. Five years earlier, an attempt to recast Dr. Eggman's 4Kids voice actor also failed. I think that this occurred because of the collapse of the anime voice acting industry in New York.

Good luck to Fune Isono's (now) previous voice actress!
