I know it's a girly-fied version of a once awesome character.

So if I haven't watched/read Black Jack yet, should I steer clear from this?

I would recommend checking out the OVA and movie version instead. |

Since it's pre-Pinoko (or at least chibi-Pinoko?), I could probably like this.

Black Jack's always been a bit of a bishonen. As long as this delivers with the stories, I'm looking forward to it. Too bad Dezaki isn't around to continue his take, though. I liked those OVAs. |

Yeah I feel the same. I watched the OVA and it was quite good, but Pinoko really annoyed me. |

I just went back and looked at the original Black Jack manga. In what universe does this or this qualify as bishonen? Even by bishonen standards, his new design is ridiculously womanly face-wise. |

Seriously? That last one is pretty darn bishounen. It's just an older, different art style. It may not be what you're used to seeing. |

Both are bishounens. Only one is Tezuka-bishounen, while the second one is 80-th/90-th bishounen. |

Watched episode 1: the fujoushi bait is very strong in this. Sadly, the medical drama is not.
