You can almost certainly thank Fujoshi supporters for that since he's the king of the demographic. If anyone was ever going to do it I figured it'd be him.

Yay, thanks for posting up the news. =)
(Psst, small typo on "Makuhari" near the end.)

I can totally work hard today knowing that tomorrow is his solo live. Planning on taking the first train to line up for goods though, ugh.

Results came out for the Haregou release event yesterday. Didn't get it. =(((( Not that I expected to, but *sigh*. It's because of the event application serial codes that people buy multiple copies. (Some people buy a hundred CDs...)

See, this is what skews the numbers in Japan: the not uncommon phenomenon of multiple copies. Sure, it's inevitable that some fans would buy multiple copies for one reason or another, but when averaged out for a typical artist, it's still close to 1 CD per fan. So if ya sell 1 million CDs, ya can legitimately say ya have a million fans.

But due to this phenomenon in Japan, the # of CDs an artist sells is not indicative of the # of fans he/she actually has - can be wildly off the mark. So, say an artist sells 20,000 CDs, how many fans does he/she actually have? If it averages out to be 5 CDs per fan (and that could be being generous), that's only 4,000 fans - that's way different than 20,000. So ya can never really say how many fans ya have.

More than aware of the issue, but I don't think anyone's really counting how many fans there are. They're just counting disc sales, and in which case, this would be fairly accurate (some stores' sales aren't reported to Oricon). From a business standpoint, it could be argued that the number of sales is more important than the number of fans.

In Kamiya's case, think of it this way... His first solo live is being held at Makuhari Messe Event Hall tomorrow, which has a capacity of 10000-15000 seats depending on the layout. He's sold out both days and there's live viewings in 82 theaters around the country for the second day. (Last time I checked, lots of people were still looking for tickets and trying to trade tickets to popular events like KuroBas Cup and Osomatsu for them.) I think it's safe to say that he has at least that many fans going to see him. Hare Rock sold about 21000 copies, but even if people are buying multiples, imo that number is still not far off from how many paying fans (emphasis on "paying") there are if his solo live numbers are any indication.

May I also add that normally the multiple copies thing occurs on single releases rather than on albums ones, they happen yes but not in the same level, it depends on what kind of extras are bundled with the release to be honest... Anyway congrats to him, he's definitely one of my favorite seiyuus~

I just learned that he was born in Matsudo. I've been living in Matsudo my whole life, but I didn't know that. I like his performance as Kiyoshi in Prison School.

Went to the first day of his live today. I took the first train to line up for goods and already there were about 2000 people waiting! The cushion and plush also sold out when I was inside the goods area lining up at one of the registers. T__T Crazy!! Too tired to try to buy them tomorrow. I'll have to hope that the after-event online sales will be made-to-order.

Anyway, it was an AMAZING live! I can't wait to do this all over again tomorrow!! I've got nothing but respect for Kamiya.
