I was going to chide Vekou, but then I visited the website, and...wow. I'm really not a fan of the artwork there, and the whole website is hideous to my eyes. Ouch.
I'll be intrigued to see where Furtype goes, though I don't really see how it's useful. I know there are plenty of otaku/furries, but what good does it do to mix the two into a magazine? |

The horrible quality of their website almost stopped me from posting the article.

Check out some of the other stuff they've published. Scary.

I feel about furries the way most normal people feel about anime fans.
There's a lesson in there somewhere, but I can't quite tease it out... |

Ow, my eyes! Man, this is the type of website I can pull off, and I don't even know anything about HTML. |

I haven't read the magazine itself, so I'm in no position to decide how good this little magazine is, if the website is any indication, it's crap, but I can't count on the website being an indication. What's more, even if it is crap, that doesn't make it not newsworthy. Fact is, this little magazine managed to get organized and get itself published, so there's no harm in posting a news article about a new anime magazine, even if it's only a fanzine. -t |

Hey this is just what anime fandom needs to be less hated: an unholy, unasked for alliance with a fandom for which there is unparalelled disdain, furries.
Vekou: rockin icon. |

I could have picked up some of Purrsia's titles back in May, at their Artist Alley table, but the art quality dissuaded me, not to mention quite a few of the plots didn't strike me as particularly original. Now they're trying to jump into fanzines...I'm not sure how it'll go. All I know is that they're a really small press -- but legit as far as I can tell.
I suspect either the 'zine will fold in six months and Purrsia returns to its normal print runs, or it'll barely hang on as a hand-to-mouth operation. |

Saw this on MTV once, basically they're ossessed with fur or smething and it's kinda sick. There's fandom, convention and everything. Here's what a fur databased describe furry: 1. (adj.) To be heavily covered with fur, a natural fuzzy substance known to grow on animals for warmth and protection. 2. (adj.) Of or having to do with anthropomorphics, especially furridom. 3. (n.) One who partakes in the anthropomorphic or furry fandom. 4. (n.) A character of anthropomorphic stories, legend, or fact. And a bunch of other term like Furplay http://www.furcen.org/fgc/glossary.html |

Yeah, furry in this sense is an affinity for anthropomorphic characters, or rather, animals that are given human qualities (like general body shape, speech, etc.). Furry is often sexual or angsty in nature, and shouldn't be confused with anime catgirls (which are fully-human characters with cat ears and other optional parts like oversized paw gloves and bell collars), or for that matter cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny (which are meant to be specifically cartoony, while furries...not typically).
Don't ask me why, but people seem to think furries tie closely to anime. Short of confused people that lump catgirls into furry, the link really isn't there except in some fans' misguided minds...or at least I've never seen any actually furry anime. I'm glad I haven't, too. So yes, at this point I'm going to turn around and pretend I didn't hear about this. While I'm something of a catgirl fan, I find furries revolting personally... |

An offense to the eye and mind. I'd become a cloistered nun to avoid that kind of stuff.
