Any particular reason the responses shift between first & third person?

Dang - interpreter spoke in 3rd person, looks like I missed a few. Should be taken care of now.

I am so happy she got to come to America to perform for the first time! She said in another interview for Anime Expo that she was in a bad spot in 2000, but then by doing music for anime and whatnot it helped to revitalize her career.

You missed one more! "Her most recent work, I sang the second season opening for Cross Ange, I think that went on sale around January of this year, so that might be a start."
I'll always remember her most for "Yoake Umare Kuru Shoujo" because Shana holds a special place for me, more so than Evangelion. I also just feel the lyrics in it are really powerful. Aoki Flamme is really good too, though. I also liked that song from "This ugly yet beautiful world", "Metamorphose" IIRC. A lot of her music just sounds so epic and powerful. I love her

That last response was funny. Till this day, I still enjoy "The Card Games Thesis."

Great interview!
One question, is this correct?
" but around 2000 or 1991 the Japanese economy went bust"

I enjoyed Ms. Takahashi-san's singing of The Girl Born at Dawn; the Techno theme of it made it sound as if it were from the 1990's.

I felt like Takahashi received the short end of the stick in terms of her treatment at Anime Expo. Her autograph session was never announced, and had a friend not noticed her tickets were available, I would not have known about her autograph session until too late.
Still, very sad that only 55 people showed up. Had it been announced, she would have had at least double that.

Shouldn't the interview say the bubble burst in 1991/1992? Right now it says 2000 or 1999, but the timeline with her studying in Los Angeles after, and THEN returning to Japan to do Evangelion, doesn't make sense.

Man, I wish I could have attended that concert. I've greatly liked all of the anime theme songs she's done, including the one which never came up in the interview: "metamorphose," the opener for This Ugly Yet Beautiful world. Really, there's not even a mediocre (much less weak) song anywhere in her anime repertoire, and she has one of the strongest and clearest singing voices of any singer I've heard do anime themes.

Does anyone have any theory why the song is called "Cruel Angel's Thesis"?

Technically I think they meant to say the Japanese economy was in a depression between 1991 and 2000-ish (the "lost decade"). It's basically been in recession since the late 80s when the bubble economy burst.

I also remember Aoki Flamme, which was good; but let's be honest, Cruel Angel's Thesis was lightning in a bottle.

It's in the lyrics, isn't it?
