Thanks for the post. I've been to Kurihama before (note that in a couple of places the article mis-spelled the name), and around the Boso Peninsula of Chiba, but haven't taken a ferry nor seen that temple.

PS, for a relatively quick trip to the edge of metropolitan Tokyo, a train to Kuki then Washinomiya for the famous shrine seen in Lucky Star is easy and there are Lucky Star drinks for sale in the local shops. Easy to combine with a trip to Kawagoe.

Great pics, Bamboo. That ferry's interior was very nice, I was impressed.

The views of these small towns don't look too much like the small towns I'd pass by traveling across the United States. Interesting. I'm used to seeing Japan depicted as just Tokyo, or at least some other high-rise metropolis, with its own distinctive look.

I'll bet the seafood in these coastal and island towns must be out of this world too.

That pic of the sashimi made my mouth water.

also, I love the kitties. They seem remarkably healthy for feral cats.
