For real??! We didn't even enter February yet and an important VA pass way. Is this a repeating of 2014?
RIP, Chikao Ohtsuka. Your role as Gol D. Roger leaves an ever lasting impact which make One Piece a great series.

I think my first honest exposure to Chikao Ohtsuka would definitely have to be playing Sonic Adventure in Japanese, where he would play the main villain, Eggman. I would later be exposed to him as Gold Roger, Captain Hook, and amongst others as the years go on. I really loved the roles he played, especially his take on Dr. Eggman, as he had consistently voiced him since 1998. He has a voice I could always pick out and I would love hearing it whenever I got a chance to see his character on screen.
It's really disheartening to me, because of his death, he will not be able to continue voicing the roles he has established for years to come. Plus, anyone having their life taken away from them early (regardless of how old he was) due to a disease, is simply unfair.
I give my best regards to all of his family and friends, as well as his fellow co-workers from over the years.

this guy a living legend,he was one of the most important Japanese voice-actors due to his experience and longevity.Losing him is pretty much like losing Mel Blanc or Frank Welker...
Seriously, there's nobody left to play evil badass old men now...

Dammit. Just...dammit. I can see 2015 is gonna be awful in regards to actor deaths, just like 2014 was.
I have to admit, Goemon was far from my favorite of the core Lupin cast, but the series still just wouldn't be the same without him, and a lot of that is owed to the characterization of him that started with Ohtsuka. His work will always be around to remind us of how good he was, but he will still be greatly, greatly missed.

He literally was one of the few legends of VA. He had that distinct voice that no one can imitate. First time I was exposed to him was Dr. Eggman in Sonic Adventure. Then learning that he voiced and mo-capped Big Boss, my appreciation for him went up even more.
RIP Big Boss. You were truly a legend.

Truly a legendary seiyu that will be greatly missed.
I remember on the bonus features of the JoJo OVAs, one of George Lucas's Skywalker Sound guys commenting that Joseph Joestar was his favorite character because of his voice actor (Chikao Ohtsuka).
ANN, you might want to note, he only played Goemon on Lupin III's first season though, so he's not the Goemon most people remember. I think a lot of people might know him as Tao Pai Pai from Dragon Ball.

You look at the picture, see the light in his eyes, you know he had a lot of stories to tell & he told them.

I knew that sooner or later this would happen given his advanced age. But even so this is so unfair. This man had an enormous carreer and monstrous talent. He has been voicing so many memorable characters that now will lose the voice that gave them life for so long.
Not saying the replacements are gonna be bad, but it won't feel the same. RIP Chikao Otsuka, you did an outstanding job.

Admiral Pizzaman, this is, of course, a repeating of 2014. Anyway...
SO LONG TO SONIC THE HEDGEHOG'S ARCHENEMY, DR. IVO "EGGMAN" ROBOTNIK!

And he played Master Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts. It's such a shame, KH3 (assuming his character makes an appearance there) won't be the same without him. Sonic, too for that matter.
Strange, in fact, I don't normally play games in Japanese but when I did they've had an amazing performance from Chikao Ohtsuka.
