This is amazing considering Twitch started as a spin-off of Justin.tv and eventually ended up killing it's parent site.

Justin.tv used to be a way to watch live stuff that is not shown in your local area.

Youtube and Twitch may have complemented each other, but competition is good.

It'd be interesting how Amazon and Microsoft work together:

I don't think "in cash" actually implies how they financed it, just that they only paid money and didn't pay with stock or debt. Amazon's cash balances probably aren't large enough to pay for this comfortably, especially if they're able to arrange a loan with decent terms(which they are).
