The list of dead mags continues to grow. The world has changed.

The era of print manga mags is winding to a close, and the age of digital manga magazines is being born. Once one of the Dengeki magazines goes fully digital, we'll know that manga magazines in print are truly dead.

I do hate a lack of info. The site I heard this from caused me to assume that it was some censorship bs going on, "launch a new web magazine" wasn't mentioned on the other source.

It might be related to the ongoing government crackdown considering the type of titles Champion Red Ichigo publishes, like Aki Sora. It would be a preemptive move to avoid official condemnation and the continuation online would be a way to get around bill 156's restriction.

That's pretty much what I was guessing as well. They published several borderline series, and with the Tokyo Government saying stuff like not decrying something is glorifying it it's no wonder they want to move to digital as it's not only cheaper but also doesn't come with the stupid restrictions that the Tokyo government would want to impose on them.

Honestly, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
