Aw, I wanted more adventures of Nate River.

No, really. He's my favorite character.

I could stand to see an ending where the wanted terrorist mastermind (and shouta-bait with a creepy-and annoying-love/hate one-sided, inferiority-complex-fueled bromance going on with L) that was Nate River (aka near) meets the horrible end that he deserves.

I wouldn't mind an OVA that tells things differently. Honestly, watching Death Note after episode 25 is pointless as the outcome is ultimately the same, you just have to suffer through some truly grating new characters and an incredibly insipid ending sequence that was wholly unnecessary. The age-old anime "rule of thumb" applies to Death Note: when an anime series employs a hackneyed time skip, it is time to stop watching as no real good can come of it.

Naters gonna Nate.

(I love that smug little bastard and would read a six volume spinoff just about him trying to decide what toy is his favorite.)

What I would like to see is an epilogue chapter that tells explicitly the fates of Naomi and Misa. (Even though I do believe it was the latter we'd seen leading a cult at the end of the last chapter, but that hasn't been confirmed.)

I would love an OVA if... spoiler[They had Light somehow find the Sinigami world and become one]

After the second arc started my interest started to all Near was such an L wannabe. It was just really meh.

Wouldn't it just be better to have a game that lets you kill Near instead?

Mine too. This hate for him hits Near my heart *ba dum bum tiss*. Nice that we did get that extra chapter that was essentially about him though.

This has to be the #1 ending that Light fans wanted instead of what actually happened; I've heard many variations of it.

I will agree that Death Note after L is weaker than with him, which is supported by how much the anime pared down the Near/Mello arc for better or worse. I've always wanted the final chapter of the manga animated, though I highly doubt that this new announcement is that. A new anime or manga project would be cool though.

Actually, it was confirmed in the volume 13 guidebook of the manga that the girl at the end isn't Misa. Even though, it really should've been.

That'd be nice, but only if the show had been completely redrawn in Full HD. Black Lagoon's upscaled bluray, despite MADHOUSE's quality art, looks like crap.

Unfortunately, L didn't really leave the show so much as he "split" into Near and Mello as those 2 combined would have been about his equal in both skill and personality. Regretfully they were discrete (obviously) in the series. I could have done without their yaoi-ness, inferiority complexes and pretentious, misanthropic and snarky dialogue.

I still find it admirable that, despite the mandated ending sequence, the anime paints a pretty clear picture of Kira winning. After episode 25 the series technically continues, but it is just 12 episodes of suck, including unbelievable and contrived actions on Light's part and 3 newly-introduced weak characters, to come to an ending that changes nothing.
