Wow, beautiful stuff here! This series has already reminded me so much of Fruits Basket when I first heard and saw its advertisements, and it still does now. (I wasn't the only one that thought of Laura Bailey playing the protagonist, right? Even though she lives in California, if I'm not mistaken.) I'd like to get to watching this sometime.

It's great to see this strong of a premium edition coming from Funimation, and for about an $80 sale price at that. (Oh boy, if Funi goes this route with their release of Space Dandy.... Shocked) Might this provide some good competition with Aniplex USA releases and lead to them finally trimming their prices some? This definitely looks like a more bang-for-your-buck deal than, say, Fate/Zero, whose first season box-set...

... is about $150 at its "sale" price.

This looks fantastic! I hope Attack on Titan gets something like this...no idea what kind of physical extras you would put in though.

Nice set wish it was for a show I was interested in :< if the picture and audio quality checks out FUNimation may win me back over to the market with future releases. Aniplex may be pricy for the N. American market but their authoring by IMAGICA is on par with Japan. For audio/video snobs like myself it is worth the cost.

Great release, and it looks like Funimation are pushing the LE-type releases, just as I said they would a few months back. Need some of that quality, and less barebones subpar releases Very Happy !

Too bad it's not an anime that I enjoy, i'm hoping that they do this kind of release for AoT, as I rarely support bare minimum releases.

@Animerican14 Even if they don't the new company in the UK, Anime Limited, as licensed Space Dandy there, and so far they've only done the more limited edition-type releases with booklets, gorgeous chipboard boxes & even digipacks Wink .

Unless you're poor, and buy one of their DVD sets.

I've watched both the Blue Exorcist AND Sword Art Online DVDs.

The quality is shit. Seriously

I watched SAO back-to-back with Future Diary. Despite FD having 7 episodes per disc and SAO having 3-4, the visual quality of SAO made me want to vomit, while the FD quality really surprised me with how good it was.

Naturally, I doubt you want to believe me. So, here are some comparison shots:

(I especially like this shot right here. shows off just how terrible the artifacting is on a show that cost $40 for only 7 episodes)

Eh, for 13 episodes the price still seems a little steep, but it's not too bad.

SpacemanHardy, I don't think anyone buys DVDs and expects the best viewing experience possible lol. You'd be better off just paying for an HD stream on Crunchyroll.

The majority would probably agree with you. Sets like this will definitely be few and far between. Asking a FUNimation buyer to come up with $80 on a single buy is pretty crazy. They might be testing the waters though.

Keeping print run limited to drive up demand.

I'm not interested on the series but I like the super premiumness of it. It'd be nice to see more stuff like this. Also, if 2500 is a "limited" print run, Funi sells way more discs than I thought they did.

I was thinking the same thing!

Well I guess we all know now that 2500 didn't work well for Ghost in the Shell Arise lol.
