Wolf Children's story covers 13 years and begins with a 19-year-old college student named Hana (Colleen Clinkenbeard) who encounters and falls in "fairy tale-like" love with a "wolf man." After marrying the wolf man, Hana gives birth and raises two wolf children — an older sister named Yuki (Jad Saxton) who was born on a snowy day, and a younger brother named Ame (Micah Solusod) who was born on a rainy day. When the wolf man suddenly dies, Hana decides to move to a rural town far removed from the city.

I just wanted to point out, how is the fact that Yuki "was born on a snowy day" and that Ame "was born on a rainy day" relevant to the description of the movie? I thought that bit of the plot description was so random that it made me chuckle.

It's not relevant to the plot, it just explains their names.

I don't why this is so amusing. Yuki does mean "snow" and Ame means "rain" and both are common given names in Japan.

I realize that, but it's such a pointless detail to add in a super short description of what the movie is about. It's so randomly superfluous, that's why I thought it was funny.

I don't understand why they had to change the title. Somethings are best left alone.

They changed it from "Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki" to "Wolf Children" because "Ame and Yuki" has no significance to an English speaking audience.

The "Hana and the Wolf-man" thing is just for the specific clips they put up, not the title of the movie, if that's what you were talking about.

Why doesn't the Wolf Man have a name?

I don't think it's a pointless detail, since it's important to the characters. Hana tells her husband that she was born on a day with flowers (or something like that) and they decide to follow the pattern with their kids.

You'll have to ask Mamoru Hosoda.
